Mike Hainstock

My passion for photography started as a young man. After joing the U.S. Army I was stationed in Germany. The charms of the old buildings and towns got under my skin. I purchased my first SLR camera, a Canon AE-1. Several months later I was selected to serve as Public Affairs Officer for my command. I was tasked with photographing training excercises, awards presentations, and some Nato functions. My commander had access to helicopters and we would frequently fly through the valleys of the Rhineland-Palatinate. This time of my life helped me learn, and appreciate the techniques needed to capture a variety of images. Currently I live in Marquette Michigan, near the shore of Lake Superior.
